And finally, we bid her goodbye.
“When I took out that final Ganesha idol from the dashboard, locked the car and handed over the keys to them, I felt an unknown heaviness in my heart.
I felt as if I was handing over something that was an integral part of me, to somebody unknown”.
“It’s 15 long years. My first car bought from the hard-earned money from my first job. While we are told that we shouldn’t build any kind of attachments to them materialistic things, for us it was like a family member sharing all the joys and sorrows in our life”, said Dilip.
Hence the sad feeling was inevitable.
But, at some point, it had to happen. It had fulfilled its “Dharma” – Dharma of ferrying us to wherever we wanted to go, without abandoning us in the middle of the road with no help (who says lifeless things do not have a Dharma to fulfill?).
It’s the end of another chapter in life but life will go on. Isn’t it?
A lot of times, I see elders telling kids that they shouldn’t be possessive about their things and that they should share them with their siblings and friends.
But the fact is that we elders too are so possessive about so many things in life and we are seldom ready to let go of it or, share it with others – our car, our pen, our computer, our dresses, jewellery etc.
Then, expecting that from the kids is a little too much. Isn’t it?
But then that’s what we adults do. Expect kids to do things that we ourselves never did or, followed.
Anyways, back to our black beauty, as she was called.
We handed her over the center that purchases second-hand cars, the last Saturday. And then drove back to our house. It was barely 6 KMs to our house. But it felt like it was a little too long a journey.
“Time heals”, as they say. I agree, it might but there will be those occasional moments in life where we will remember her. And I am sure those moments will be painful.
Kerala Beetroot Thoran Recipe – Kerala Style Beetroot Stir Fry
Beetroot Thoran is a combination of beetroot, coconut, and some India Spices. In Kerala, any vegetable that is stir-fried along with grated coconut is called “Thoran”. Thoran is an authentic traditional side dish normally served along with Steamed rice and some curry.
Personally, I like Beetroot Thoran more when it is served with Boiled Rice, Kerala Moong Dal Parippu, Papadam, and Ghee. I just love this combination.
The addition of this recipe into your normal diet gives you lots of health benefits. This recipe has the goodness of beetroot and coconut both. So let’s jump on to the recipe now. And of course, do try this recipe and let us know, how it turned out for you.
